Words And Their Undeniable Effect
Sometimes, we take for granted the effect of our words. We do not realize how positive, negative and most importantly powerful our words can be. Take a second now and think about most of what came out of your mouth today. Can you remember all the words? Were they all with purpose? Was your tone appropriate?
When I was around ten years old, I heard my uncle say that you can get shot, and the wound would heal; but sometimes, you can never heal from the wounds words can cause. You would think that ever since then I was always alert regarding the words I shat out of my mouth. Nope. We are spontaneous creatures that blurt out wrong things because of our uncontrolled hormonal bullshit. The crap I have said over the years is not even bearable—so thank you to my kind friends and family for putting up with me.
Next time you are conducting a conversation, realize how your words can bounce right from your mouth and slap your listener(s). End of the day, you are so capable of making your surrounding come to life—just by what you say and how you say it.
On another note, I want to address something I find rather annoying. POLITICAL CORRECTNESS. Do not get me wrong, I in no way advocate the normalization of racist, sexist or any form of insulting and marginalizing terminologies. However, this automatic rejection and pass-aggressive reaction to what people might say, unintentionally, has to come to an end.
Basically, I am trying to say that we should be more knowledgeable regarding what we say and more understanding toward what we hear. It is a give and take kind of relationship, don’t be a KANYE. Its all about connecting with one another. Nokia knew their shit.. kind of, you know.. before they fucked up..
